Come and experience country hospitality and fare…

Taking a 4-wheel drive through the region’s hot-spot tracks is fun and so is visiting the local markets, Beaufort, Moonambel and Clunes, to enjoy the vast array of local produce.
Be enticed by the gourmet food and wine experiences the region regularly offers, when Melbourne’s great chefs and the Pyrenees great wine makers come together to create “Seduction by Tastebuds”.
Play a hit of golf at the Beaufort Golf Club.
Visit the Beaufort Historical Society or cruise the diverse array of art galleries such as McMurray Gallery, Painters Loft or Pyrenees Pottery.
Come to the country meetings and experience Pink Lamb & Purple Shiraz Race Day in March or the Mount Avoca ANZAC Day Races in April or the Taltarni Avoca Cup in October.
See the Arts and Crafts stalls at the Barkly Lavender and Rose Farm Spring Fair.
So much to do…
Come play Petanque!
Pétanque, known as ‘the sport for wine tasters’, is a form of boules (bowls) where the goal is to throw metal balls as close as possible to a jack (a small wooden ball called a cochonnet in French, which means piglet). Petanque is played at one of the many pistes (playing strips) throughout the region.
The game is normally played on hard sand/gravel, but can also be played on grass or any other surface. Similar games are Bocce and bowls.
Of course as the Pyrenees region is named after the famous Pyrenees mountain range in France, it stands to reason that the community has taken up the game with gusto. Pétanque is the most played sport in France and the most loved sport in the Victorian Pyrenees Region.
