 The Pyrenees Hills Wine Store, Cellar Door and Café, located at 123 High Street, Avoca, is a new and exciting development. It has been created exclusively as a showcase for the wineries and producers of the magnificent Pyrenees Region.
It is thought that the original site (circa 1860) belonged to a blacksmith. Over time the store served the community with an array of businesses including insurance, grocery and hardware until it became so dilapidated, it had to be closed down.
Now fully restored and fitted out, The Cellar Door and Wine Store has been established for tastings and sales of the Pyrenees Region wines and will enable all wine connoisseurs to sample the varieties, and to take advantage of any specials offered by the region’s wineries.
The Store, in conjunction with the wineries, will host special functions and conduct a series of regular wine tasting events featuring the local winemakers.
Local produce such as olives, olives oils and berries will ‘hold hands’ with the great grape for sampling and buying. Locally crafted red gum furniture, also available for sale, has been used extensively throughout The Store to create an ambience conducive to wining, dining and relaxing.
The Café will open for breakfast, brunch and lunch and offer country-fresh, local produce. Pyrenees Region wines will be available for sale by the glass to complement the light lunches.
